The Spirit and Power of Agreement

This is a tremendous dimension for powerful breakthrough prayer that would release the Purposes of God in the earth in a much more powerful way. As we explore the activities of the early Church in the Book of Acts we see some tremendous examples of that Church entering into this awesome power that released a powerful synergy as they came into active and deliberate oneness.

This level of oneness moved the Hand of God in some tremendous ways! Here are some of the examples that were released and recorded in the Book of Acts:

• Acts 1:14 The first thing we see is that through this absolute “oneness” as they flowed in this “Spirit and Power of Agreement” – Revelation and wisdom was given to replace Judas from the original apostolic company:

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

• Acts 2:1 We read how the human vessels were prepared for the arrival of the Holy Spirit into the earth:

Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

• Acts 2:46 We read about the level of Christian community, which was created in order that apostolic signs and wonders be produced, which caused daily addition to the Church:

So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.

• Acts 4:23-24 A basis for powerful prayer and declaration that caused divine impartations of boldness and crushed the spirit of intimidation that came against the Church.

We saw that because these early Apostles were completely ‘sold out’ to God and that they flowed in the spirit of unity they were seeking to cast them into prison. But because of the level of unity that existed within their company, that did not deter them, because as soon as they were released from prison this is what they did:

And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,

• Acts 5:12 We read about an increase of signs and wonders being done among the people by the Apostles, again because of the tremendous level of unity that existed between these early brethren:

And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

• Acts 15:25 We see the release of the powerful apostolic decision-making grace that put divine order and structure into the emerging Church at Antioch and related areas: it seemed good to us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

Just from these examples alone, it was evident that being in one accord was the reason for all kinds of tremendous, powerful spiritual activity produced in the Book of Acts, with the early Church. My cry is for us this 21st Century to step into and experience this same level of unity if we are to see and experience this level of Divine release.

Remember this, Jesus made a very powerful statement when He walked the face of the earth. In Matthew 18:19 He shows that the power of agreement moves the Hand of God.

Again I say to you that if two agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.

This is a powerful principle of aggressive, productive prayer. It is very interesting to note that the word agree comes from the Greek word “sumphoneo” from which we get our English word symphony. This word means to make one common noise, to sound together or to be in harmony.

My God, may we experience this level of “agreement” within the Church once again. May we as the Body of Christ become the symphony that we were created to be, thereby releasing the Lord to move in a powerful in and through us…

And while I know that this must be taking place within the context of some local churches, we would like to see this on a much more universal way within the Church.

So then, it must be said that whenever we enter into this kind of prayer where there is the sweetness of one sound; where hearts willingly and joyfully come together to bring a common thing to pass; where there is the same common understanding that we work together with God for His purpose then the Will of God will be mightily done. Let us rise up as the Church in this hour and become unified.

Let us rise up to the next level in God and show forth the level of light that is so needed. And as that light shines forth with greater levels of brightness, let it expel the darkness that is seeking to raise over our cities.

Let the Church arise with one voice!
